I had a wonderful time learning how to trim apple trees at work with my coworkers. The experience was both fun and educational, and it gave me a greater appreciation for the care that goes into producing healthy fruit.

The Importance of Apple Trimming

We are working in the apple garden, trimming the trees to keep them healthy and manageable. This process prevents the trees from growing too big or tall, which would make collecting apples harder. It is also necessary to remove damaged or poorly grown branches so the trees can produce more and better fruit.

Trimming an Apple Tree at Work

The apples from these trees are for eating, and they are a favorite in my home. I enjoy them from the start of autumn in October until the beginning of spring in April. When stored properly in a cool, dry place, some apple varieties can last for months. My favorite type is the sour ‘Pink Lady,’ although I wish they stayed sour longer after picking, as they tend to ripen further and become sweeter.

Apple Treats and Vinegar

At home, my mother and I love using apples in different ways. We often make smoothies, which are refreshing and nutritious. Most importantly, we prepare apple vinegar—a true elixir of life. This vinegar is praised by dietitians for its many health benefits. I have been using it for years and can personally confirm its positive effects. Thank God for the opportunity to make this healthy addition to our lives.

Trimming from the Ground and the Trees

My female coworkers mostly trim the trees from the ground, using tools to reach the lower branches. I, however, have to climb the trees to reach the furthest branches. It feels adventurous and gives me a unique perspective on the work.

With My Coworkers

Reflecting on the experience, I feel grateful for the chance to learn this valuable skill while enjoying time outdoors with my team. It’s satisfying to know we’re helping the trees thrive and ensuring a good harvest for the future.
