Vasko Krapkata Concert: Finding Hope Through Music
Reading time: 5 minutes
I attended a festival in my hometown where I had the chance to see one of my favorite musicians, Vasko Krapkata, perform live. It was a wonderful and inspiring experience.
The Festival and Vasko Krapkata
The festival is happening in the park, just five minutes from my apartment. Tonight’s highlight is a live concert by Vasko Krapkata, whose nickname, “Krapkata” (meaning “The Patch”), comes from his habit of wearing clothes patched with colorful fabric.
I admire Vasko not just for his music but especially for the lyrics he writes. His songs speak to the struggles and hopes of ordinary people, often delivering powerful messages of resilience and faith. Some of his work even includes Christian themes, which resonate deeply with me.
A Song of Hope: ‘Let There Be Light’
One of my favorite songs by Vasko is “Let There Be Light”. Its lyrics are uplifting, reminding listeners that even in dark and difficult times, there is always hope. The song encourages you to believe that something good can happen, and that God is there to help you.
Lyrics of the song ‘Let There be Light’ by Vasko Krapkata (The Patch):
When the flower withers
before it has bloomed,
when the bird falls
before it has flown,
when darkness
blots out the light,
when the Earth stops
before it has turned.
When they trip you
before you have taken a step,
when they strike you
before you have raised your head,
when you feel like crying
before you have opened your eyes,
when you feel like singing,
but you begin to scream…
CHORUS
Let there be light!
Let there be flowers!
Let there be love!
Let there be children!
When you strike
against the bars of your own freedom,
when you hate so deeply,
yet dream of love,
when you are falling
and think you are flying,
when you feel like singing
and realize that you are silent.
Then…
CHORUS
Let there be light!
Let there be flowers!
Let there be love!
Let there be children!
‘Let There be Light’ by Vasko Krapkata (The Patch)
I remember so many times when I was struck by words of disrespect and curses before I had even lifted my head or said a single word. There were also times when I was hindered from doing something before I had even had the chance to try. It can seem as though a person who has given himself over to evil somehow foresees the good that is about to happen and tries to destroy it before it can even begin.
This continues to happen even now. I try not to become angry with the people who treat me this way, knowing that I was once much the same as them before I began reading and studying the Bible. Instead, I try to remain calm and remember God’s words:
“Be still, and know that I am God.”
Psalm 46:10
In simple words: Stop being afraid and stop trying to control everything. Be still, trust God, and remember that He is in control.
It is an invitation to find peace and confidence in God, even when everything around you seems chaotic.
And sometimes there is light. Sometimes the person who offends me repents and apologizes. Sometimes someone stands by my side and protects me. I wish it were like that every time. But even when it is not, if I manage to turn the other cheek, refuse to return evil for evil, and forgive, I am still the one who has truly overcome.

Have you ever felt that you wanted to sing, but instead you found yourself shouting? Have you ever felt as though you were striking against the bars of your own freedom? Have you ever been filled with hatred when, deep down, you longed to be filled with love?
There are so many things that can hold us back: problems, grudges, anger, depression, and our own vices. Yet these burdens begin to lose their power when we humble ourselves, forgive others, and place our faith and hope in God.
Even when darkness seems to overcome the light, God can still bring light into our lives.
As the concert begins, Vasko sings many of his most famous songs. I’m there with two friends who have never heard his music before. It’s exciting to see them enjoy his songs, especially since some of the lyrics are so meaningful.
Meeting Vasko Krapkata
After the performance, I approach Vasko to take a photo with him. Nervously, I tell him that “Let There Be Light” is my favorite song, and he smiles warmly, replying, “Yes, let there be, let there be.” His humble and kind demeanor impresses me. Even though he is a well-known and respected artist, he doesn’t carry himself with pride. Instead, he seems down-to-earth and approachable.

The Power of Music
Vasko’s concert reminds me of how music can be a powerful tool for spreading messages of hope and faith. Many world-famous artists include Christian values and morals in their songs, which can inspire people who might never otherwise hear about God to explore faith and even read the Bible.
This festival was a simple yet meaningful experience. Listening to Vasko’s music live, sharing the moment with my friends, and meeting him in person left a lasting impression on me. It’s always wonderful to see how art and music can connect us and remind us of the good things in life.
